If you are in Dublin – play the Island golf course as it is not too far, not expensive and yet a superb and challenging links golf course. It may lack a little bit of prestige compared to the Portmarnock, but it is not second best when it comes to the golf. There are some demanding holes in a raw, natural layout and as with other links courses the wind can be the difference although there is also a lot of tall grass which can easily swallow balls if you are not at the top of your shot making. A par 71 course that plays to just over 6900 yards!
