Hua Hin tops the list of golf destinations in Thailand, that you’d go to for a relaxed and quiet holiday. This characteristic, believe it not, makes a Hua Hin golf holiday quite popular amongst a section of the golfing community. But, while this is a factor, it is the quality of Hua Hin golf courses which is the big draw.
The Royalty Lives on
Hua Hin is home to the summer palaces of the royal Thai family. While it is not clear if the royal family still visits them, they are the main driver to keeping controls. The administration remains committed to ensuring Hua Hin stays relatively clean and “non-seedy” compared to other beach resorts in Thailand. Consequently, there are fewer restaurants and bars and a much more restricted nightlife. And whatever there are, they are well zoned or confined to back alleys. It is this aspect of Hua Hin that wins the hearts of many tourists. And the beach, (albeit not the best in the world) where you can lie or swim without bother! There is enough to keep you interested though. There is a lively night market, which tourists flock to, both for the little things and the superb seafood. The back alleys have a good sprinkling of bars, where you cannot go wrong, if there for a laugh.
More than a Fairway
With the hygiene factors already addressed, it is time to play. Hua Hin golf courses – particularly with the advent of Black Mountain and Banyan, attract golfers from around the world. There has even been a suggestion in the past of Hua Hin being the golf capital of Thailand. Whether it is, doesn’t really matter, as long as you are thrilled by the golf experience on offer. And it is exactly that thrilling golf experience that a Hua Hin golf holiday promises and delivers. This includes hitting off immaculate fairways on stunning holes in incredible surroundings, but then, it is not just that. It’s also about the post round drink at sunset at Banyan’s terrace restaurant with views of the mountains and Myanmar. Or the massage at the spa at Black Mountain! Wait! – Even for a moment, you should not think that golf in Hua Hin ends with Banyan and Black Mountain.
Beyond Black Mountain and Banyan
The Jack Nicklaus designed Springfield has long been the cornerstone of a Hua Hin golf holiday. It may not boast the same course conditions as Black Mountain or Banyan, but the layout is an absolute cracker. Excluding this in the set of Hua Hin golf courses to play, is positively going to be a big miss. At least, for the serious golfers, who are not only swayed by immaculate fairways and tee boxes! There is also Sea Pines for its unique seaside experience. Although it may have lost some of its original sparkle, there is still some engaging golf on offer.
Anytime is Good
The climate really doesn’t come in the way of a Hua Hin golf holiday. If you are looking for the most pleasant time of the year – it has to be between December to February. It can be a bit warmer in April and May, but not really in the realms of being unbearable. The rainy period is between July and October and in theory, this should be the lean time. However, the rain in Hua Hin comes and goes quickly, so there is no serious trouble on that count. In fact, the Hua Hin Golf Festival in August and September is the ideal time to play. All Hua Hin golf courses come together during this time to offer excellent discounted deals. It could just be the time to plan your Hua Hin golf holiday.
